INTERNATIONAL SUNFLOWER ASSOCIATION

The Book of Abstracts of the 6th International Symposium on Broomrape in Sunflower & 1st Meeting on Sunflower Biotic and Abiotic Stress (ORO-STRESS 2026) has been prepared for the meeting held in Novi Sad, Serbia, from June 15th to 18th, 2026. The symposium is jointly organized by the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad (IFVCNS), and the International Sunflower Association (ISA). It continues the tradition of international scientific exchange dedicated to one of the most serious constraints in sunflower production, sunflower broomrape (Orobanche cumana Wallr.). Previous symposia were organized in Turkey (2008), Moldova (2011), Spain (2014), Romania (2018), and Turkey (2023), each contributing significantly to improved knowledge of the parasite and to the development of effective management strategies.

Organized by Trakya University, International Sunflower Association and International Researchers Association. This was the 5th specific symposium on broomrape in sunflower, after those held in Turkey in 2008, Moldova in 2011, Spain in 2014 and Romania in 2018.

The International Sunflower Association-ISA, the Occitanie-Toulouse INRAE and the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute-FABI organised the 1st Sunflower-Pollinator interactions Web conference.

This Workshop was organized by the Romanian Sunflower Association, Ovidius University in Constanta and National Agricultural Research and Development Institute Fundulea, in collaboration with the International Sunflower Association ISA. The workshop covered aspects related to sunflower adaptation to climate change by understanding the genome functioning, Pest and diseases in climate change conditions, Stability of production.
